Bany Vargas was born in Oaxaca but raised in Santa Barbara. Although she has spent most of her life in Santa Barbara, she has always had a very deep connection to her Oaxacan culture. Bany is passionate about art, food, cooking, but mostly about sharing her culture with everyone she meets! She’s a trained cook, professionally and traditionally, and an artisanal Oaxacan hot chocolate maker.
At La Calenda, Bany is not only able to share her culture through stories, but she gives each customer the opportunity to take a piece of it through the beautiful and unique handcrafted product selection that fill her store.
